Samuel Eto’o Adds Golden Foot Award to Illustrious Career
Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto’o was honored on Monday evening in Monaco with the prestigious Golden Foot Award, recognizing his outstanding career and current form. The award, reserved for players aged 28 and over, celebrates both past achievements and ongoing contributions to the sport.
At 34 years old, Eto’o follows in the footsteps of the 2014 winner Andrés Iniesta, joining an elite group of football legends. The former striker of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Chelsea, and Everton made a recent move from Sampdoria to Turkish club Antalyaspor, where he has already made an impressive start by scoring five goals in five matches.
Eto’o is only the second African player to receive this accolade, following Ivorian Didier Drogba, who won the award in 2013. The ceremony also saw other football greats such as David Trezeguet, Gheorghe Hagi, Daniel Passarella, and Rinat Dasaev inducted into the Golden Foot Hall of Fame.
