Ghana’s draw for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil places them in a challenging group alongside Germany, the United States, and Portugal. Despite the difficulty of the group, the Black Stars remain calm and express ambitions of reaching the semi-finals. Here are statements from some Ghanaian players:
Isaac Vorsah: “Portugal and Germany are already the favorites for the World Cup final. And to think that Ghana is in the group of these two great footballing nations, it will not be easy for us. But football is played on the pitch and not with names.”
John Mensah: “We have played in the World Cup twice, and on both occasions, we made progress. In 2010, no one saw us getting past the first round, but we qualified for the quarter-finals. The Black Stars progress over the years, and we have reached maturity. This draw proves that we are ready to go far at the World Cup in Brazil.”
Agyemang Badu: “There is never an easy opponent in the World Cup. It’s a tough group, of course, but Ghana has proven they can get through the stages. We have to do very good preparation to dominate our opponents.”
