Jonathan Pitroipa (45th), Djakaridja Kone (65th), and Aristide Bancé (86th, penalty) all found the net for the Stallions. Algeria managed to score through Sofiane Feghouli (50th) and Carl Medjani (59th).
Despite Aristide Bancé missing a penalty at the start of the match, he displayed composure on his second attempt, converting it successfully. This contribution allowed Burkina Faso to take a slight lead in the quest for qualification for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The focus now shifts to the return match in Blida, where both teams will battle for a spot in the World Cup.
