The Indomitable Lions are gearing up to face Libya in the qualifiers for the 2014 Brazil World Cup, and since Tuesday, the team has been in a closed camp at the Caf Center of Excellence in Okoa Maria. To foster team spirit, strict instructions have been issued to the gatekeepers, ensuring that no one is allowed to enter or leave.
A police officer explained, “Even if your name is Samuel Eto’o, we have no right to let you out. It’s an instruction from the coach that we apply.” These measures are in place to maintain focus and concentration within the team as they prepare for the upcoming match.
Among those waiting outside the closed camp is Marie-Thérèse Fekam Gamgne, affectionately known as Mama Eto’o. She arrived on Monday, eager to meet her idol, Samuel Eto’o, and has been stationed at the center gate since then. Despite the rain and challenging conditions, Mama Eto’o remained steadfast in her determination.
She revealed, “The 9th (Samuel Eto’o) asked me to see him when they are there for the match, and since I have been here, I’m told he can’t go out. But, as he knows that I am here, he will certainly, if he does not go out, send someone to see me. That’s why I’m not moving.”
Despite her dedication, Mama Eto’o faced disappointment in her attempts to sell gadgets to visitors, and she expressed concern about not having earned enough money to return to Yaoundé due to lack of sales.
