Brazilian Coach Luis Felipe Scolari Investigated for Alleged Tax Fraud
With the 2014 World Cup less than a month away, Brazil’s head coach, Luis Felipe Scolari, is facing an investigation into alleged tax fraud. According to Folha de São Paulo, Portuguese authorities are looking into claims that the 65-year-old failed to declare seven million euros in income between 2003 and 2008, a period when he was managing the Portuguese national team.
Scolari, however, has denied any wrongdoing. “I filed my tax returns correctly. In all the countries where I have worked, I have always declared my income,” he said. “If there is anything incorrect, it is not my fault. Let the courts examine all the facts.”
This legal issue comes as Scolari prepares Brazil for the upcoming World Cup, where the pressure will be on to deliver a strong performance in front of home fans.
