Africa Top Sports reported on Monday about Togo’s request for a friendly match against Equatorial Guinea. Initially hesitant due to the proximity of the date to the 2014 World Cup qualifiers, the Togolese Football Federation (FTF) has now accepted the proposal. Togo will face Equatorial Guinea on June 4 in Malabo as part of their preparations for the 4th round of qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Yvette Klussey, the Secretary General of the FTF, mentioned that they received requests from several countries, but the one from Equatorial Guinea seemed more appropriate to prepare for the upcoming match against Cameroon.
In contrast, Cameroon, Togo’s opponent in the World Cup qualifiers, is set to play a match against Ukraine. The Indomitable Lions will be without several key players, including captain Samuel Eto’o.
