Nigeria played their second friendly match overnight Tuesday into Wednesday as part of their preparations for the 2014 World Cup. The Super Eagles were held to a goalless draw by Greece, despite fielding a near full-strength side expected to start in Brazil.
Under coach Stephen Keshi, Nigeria experimented with a new tactical formation featuring two strikers, Peter Odemwingie and Emmanuel Emenike. Although the team created several scoring opportunities, they were unable to find the net. Greece, on the other hand, posed little offensive threat throughout the match.
This result follows Nigeria’s 2-2 draw against Essex last week, leaving questions about the team’s attacking efficiency ahead of the tournament.
Nigeria’s starting lineup for the match was: Vincent Enyeama; Ambrose, Obaobona, Kenneth Omeruo, Efe Echejile; John Obi Mikel, Onazi; Ahmed Musa, Victor Moses; Peter Odemwingie, Emmanuel Emenike.
