Cameroon Cancels Friendly Match Against Guatemala Ahead of World Cup
Cameroon’s preparations for the 2014 World Cup have faced an early setback as the country’s football federation, Fecafoot, was forced to cancel the friendly match against Guatemala. The match, originally scheduled for June 7 in Yaoundé, will no longer take place, although no official reason for the cancellation has been provided.
Fecafoot reassured fans that they are working to secure an alternative opponent for the Lions. This match was to be the final friendly before Cameroon heads to Brazil for the World Cup.
This isn’t the first time an African nation has had to cancel a friendly with Guatemala. In April, Ghana also postponed a planned match against the South American team.
As Cameroon looks to finalize their preparations, they will be hoping to find a suitable opponent for the June 7 date to ensure their squad is match-ready for the tournament.
