2014 WORLD CUP/ LESLIE NOTSI “OUR TEAM IS MAKING PROGRESS”

Leslie Notsi, the coach of Lesotho, expressed his satisfaction with his team’s performance after they held Zambia to a 1-1 draw during the 3rd day of qualifying for the 2014 Brazil World Cup. Despite the notable difference in size and experience between the two teams, with Zambia being African champions in 2012, Lesotho managed to secure a positive result.

Notsi acknowledged the underdog status of Lesotho in comparison to Zambia but emphasized that the draw was not solely a result of Zambia’s poor performance. Instead, he credited the achievement to the progress and improvement made by the Lesotho team. He suggested that Lesotho’s positive outcome was not solely due to Zambia playing poorly but was a reflection of the growth and development of the Lesotho team.

The coach expressed disappointment that his team didn’t capitalize on the advantage of playing against a reduced Zambia side, as the Zambian goalkeeper, Kennedy Mweene, was sent off. Despite this, Notsi remained optimistic about the future, stating that Lesotho is building something interesting for the long term.

The draw against Zambia represented a noteworthy result for Lesotho, and Notsi’s comments reflect a belief in the team’s potential and a commitment to continuous improvement in their footballing capabilities.
