Joseph Antoine Bell, former goalkeeper of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, expressed his views on the upcoming World Cup qualifying return match between Senegal and Ivory Coast. In an interview with the Senegalese sports daily “STADES,” Bell believes that Senegal has the potential to dream of qualifying against Ivory Coast.
According to Bell, the recent events in football demonstrate that anything is possible in a match, and Senegal needs to approach the game with direct play, concentration in defense, and effectiveness in attack. He emphasizes that Senegal should not underestimate Ivory Coast’s team, mentioning Drogba as an example of a player who continues to perform at a high level.
Bell encourages Senegal to focus on having a good match and believes that the age of players should not be a determining factor. Drawing from his own experience, he mentions playing in a World Cup at the age of 40 and emphasizes the importance of scoring early in the match to create doubt for Ivory Coast.
The return leg between Senegal and Ivory Coast is scheduled for November 16.
