The Burkinabe Football Federation (FBF) has filed a complaint against the result of the Algeria-Burkina Faso match played on November 19. Despite Algeria’s 1-0 victory, the FBF contests the qualification, claiming that Majid Bougherra, who scored the crucial goal, was supposed to be suspended. According to the FBF, Bougherra received a yellow card in the first leg in Burkina Faso, which should have made him ineligible for the return match. However, there is no official record of a yellow card for Bougherra in the first leg on the FIFA website. Additionally, the FBF filed an appeal against the referee, Badara Diatta, accusing him of favoring Algeria. The appeal is unlikely to change the result, but the FBF hopes for a sanction against the referee if the allegations are proven.
