2014 WORLD CUP: HAYATOU REASSURES ABOUT THE GOOD ORGANIZATION OF THE COMPETITION

Issa Hayatou, in his role as the president of the Organizing Commission for the World Cup, displayed confidence and reassurance regarding FIFA and Brazil’s capability to successfully organize the upcoming competition in June, despite certain preparations still being incomplete. After a meeting of the World Cup Organizing Commission, which was extended to include the Local Organizing Committee, Hayatou addressed the global community.

While acknowledging that everything is not yet fully prepared, Hayatou expressed optimism based on the commitments made by both FIFA and the Brazilian government. He stated, “We cannot say that everything is ready. But in light of what was done and what was said, the commitment not only of FIFA but of the Brazilian government, there is reason to hope that this World Cup will completely fulfill the expectation from all over the world.” Hayatou emphasized that the remaining six months leading up to the event will be utilized to refine and address any minor imperfections, ensuring that everything will be ready for a successful World Cup in June.

During the press conference, Hayatou shared the platform with FIFA President Joseph Sepp Blatter, Brazilian Deputy Sports Minister Luis Fernandes, President of the Local Organizing Committee José Maria Marin, and FIFA Secretary General Jérôme Valcke.
