FIFA seems to be taking a firm stance on its member associations this week. Following Sudan, Gabon has now been handed a defeat off the field. The three points from their 2014 World Cup qualifiers match against Niger will be awarded to Menas.
The Gabonese Football Federation (FEGAFOOT) is under scrutiny for allegedly fielding defender Charly Moussono, who had nationality-related concerns. The Panthers managed a goalless draw against Niger in Niamey. Currently focused on their return match for the CAN 2013 qualifiers against Togo, FEGAFOOT has yet to make a decision on whether to appeal this ruling, but a response is expected shortly.
