Burkina Faso has officially lodged an appeal with FIFA against the referee of the second leg play-off match against Algeria, Badara Diatta. The appeal cites the cancellation of Charles Kaboré’s goal and a severe tackle on Burkina Faso’s captain, Majid Bougherra, who went on to score the qualifying goal for Algeria. Additionally, Burkina Faso claims that the referee only validated two minutes of additional time, despite granting four minutes. FIFA will review these grievances, and a decision is expected by December 5. It’s worth noting that there was confusion regarding a Twitter account purportedly belonging to Badara Diatta, which turned out to be a fake account.
