The 6th edition of the UEMOA Tournament kicked off this Saturday in Abidjan, featuring eight teams divided into two groups of four.
The opening day witnessed two matches, with Ivory Coast making a strong start to the competition by securing a 2-1 victory against Togo. Meanwhile, Mali and Burkina Faso had a goalless draw, resulting in a balanced outcome.
However, what caught the attention of the local and regional press covering the event was the absence of a formal setting for the post-match press conference. Surprisingly, the designated conference room was repurposed as a bar for VIP guests, leaving journalists without a proper venue for discussions.
In response to this unusual situation, the press conference was conducted in an improvised manner, taking place outdoors. Journalists, undeterred by the lack of facilities, conducted their interviews in the stadium parking lot. This impromptu arrangement was a consequence of organizational shortcomings, casting a shadow on the overall assessment of the event’s management.
