Ivory Coast finished just off the podium in the football tournament at the Francophonie Games. In the match for third place on Sunday, the Eléphanteaux lost to Senegal, who emerged victorious 11-10 in penalties.
During regulation time, neither team managed to score despite numerous opportunities and, notably, a clear domination by Ivory Coast. Roger Assale, who scored a quadruple during the last group match, showed a lack of precision, much like his teammates.
The final of the football tournament at the 7th Francophonie Games later featured a match between Morocco and Congo.
