وفاق سطيف to meet Hamada Sedky over contract termination after Zalouk goal

وفاق سطيف will hold an emergency meeting with manager Hamada Sedky on Sunday to discuss ending his contract after a poor run of results.

The Algerian club’s announcement came after a 2-1 defeat by Chabab Temouchent in their league match on Saturday, with Egyptian forward Mohamed Zalouk scoring for the winning side.

In a statement, وفاق سطيف said its administration would meet Sedky and his Egyptian coaching staff at the club’s headquarters on Sunday afternoon.

The purpose of the meeting will be to consider “breaking the relationship” with the manager and his staff because of the results recorded during the opening rounds of the Algerian league.

The club said the issue would be decided only after all aspects of the potential termination had been reviewed. It added that the final decision would be taken in the best interests of وفاق سطيف and its supporters.

Sedky has overseen six matches since taking charge of the team. وفاق سطيف have won only once, drawn twice and lost three times during that run.

The defeat by Chabab Temouchent leaves وفاق سطيف 12th in the Algerian league with five points. They are one point above the relegation places.

Zalouk’s goal contributed to the latest setback for Sedky’s side and has prompted the club to consider whether the manager’s tenure should continue.
